Members of the Massachusetts Select Board Association attend the MSA Western Massachusetts Conference in October.

Following recommendations to stay home and maintain social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the MMA is canceling, postponing, or holding virtually all member group meetings and activities through June.

The MMA will host its inaugural webinar, Managing Employees During Difficult Times, on April 9 in place of a joint meeting of the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association and Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources that was originally scheduled for that date. A webinar on the issue of municipal cybersecurity is also under development, and details will be shared with members in the coming weeks.

All member group board meetings and committee meetings scheduled for the month of April will be held virtually, either via Zoom or conference call.

“Ongoing COVID-19 updates and guidance will continue virtually,” said MMA Executive Director Geoff Beckwith, “and the membership team, under the direction of the groups they manage, has either postponed regularly scheduled meetings or is turning them into online meetings and webinars.”

The MMA continues to monitor the COVID situation closely and will provide updates about scheduled meetings as they are available. The Events Calendar on the MMA website is updated regularly to reflect the status of member group meetings.

Questions or concerns about member group meetings and activities can be directed to MMA Member Services Coordinator Isabelle Nichols at inichols@mma.org or MMA Senior Member Services Coordinator Denise Baker at dbaker@mma.org.
