On April 28, Gov. Deval Patrick signed a fiscal 2010 supplemental budget bill that includes $6.3 million to reimburse cities and towns for the cost of the statewide U.S. Senate election held on Jan. 19.

On May 10, Secretary of State William Galvin announced reimbursements for individual cities and towns, based on amounts certified by the state auditor’s office.

Chapter 86 of the Acts of 2010 is the first of several supplemental budget bills expected to be enacted over the next few months to close out fiscal 2010. Most of the funding in Chapter 86 is targeted to shortfalls in state medical assistance and shelter accounts.
