Thursday - November 4, 2021
7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

The Association of Town Finance Committees will hold its Annual Meeting this fall as a three-part Zoom webinar series.

The webinars will be held on Oct. 21, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

The Oct. 21 session will feature MMA Legislative Director Dave Koffman and Senior Legislative Analyst Jackie Lavender Bird. They will cover a variety of topics including ARPA and state budget updates and will answer attendee questions. The second webinar on Oct. 28 will focus on legal issues. Changes to Open Meeting Law, public record guidelines, and areas specific to finance committees like when they may enter executive session will be covered. Presenters will address other scenarios that challenge members, such as access to a legal opinion or specific town counsel guidance.

The final session on Nov. 4 will address some of the keys to success for a finance committee. These include a detailed walk through the budget calendar, working with other committees and boards in town and establishing good practices and policies for your committee. Presenters will be Arlington finance committee member and ATFC Treasurer Al Tosti and former Halifax finance committee chair and select board member and Past President of the ATFC Kim Roy.

The ATFC will also hold its business meeting at the beginning of the first session, on Oct. 21, including election of the Governing Board for 2022. Anyone interested in serving on the Board should contact Denise Baker at the MMA at dbaker@mma.org.

The association is updating its Finance Committee Handbook, and the new edition will be published in digital form by the first session. All communities that have paid fiscal 2022 dues will receive access at that time.

Registrants will receive the Zoom link for each session the day before.

Note: Due to a scheduled registration system upgrade, those wishing to register after Nov. 1 should send an email to jobasohan@mma.org.
