Wednesday - July 15, 2020
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

In response to the COVID-19 Emergency, the Massachusetts Select Board Association’s Annual Leadership Conference has been restructured as a series of free webinars to be conducted over the coming months. The third of these webinars will take place on Wednesday, July 15, from 2-3 p.m.

This webinar is open to all selectmen/select board members but is primarily intended to serve as a training for those who are newly elected.

This webinar will feature a crash course in public records and open meeting laws with public sector law firm KP Law.

The Massachusetts Open Meeting and Public Records Laws are vital to understanding your role as a public servant. The Open Meeting Law pertains to how you can communicate with your fellow board members, town employees, and even community residents. The Public Records Law can affect your email accounts, social media, and any documentation you could be preparing for a board meeting, public hearing, etc. Having a working knowledge of both of these laws is critical as a select board member in Massachusetts.

This meeting will be done as a Zoom Webinar. The webinar is free to attend, but you must register in advance.
