Thursday - March 7, 2019
8:30 am – 2:00 pm

The panel presentation is CORI/SORI: Protecting Yourself and Your Community in the Hiring Process. The Criminal Offender Record Information request form (CORI) and the Sex Offender Registry Information request form (SORI) are critical in the hiring process.

With the ever changing Massachusetts laws regarding how to use the information from these forms, specifically with seasonal hiring, MMPA is working with the Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) for this panel presentation on how to avoid pitfalls in hiring, best practices for using CORI/SORI, and legal ramifications and concern to take into consideration.

Attendees will learn about what happens when CORI/SORI is not used correctly; current state regulations regarding the forms and how the information gathered can be used in an interview; and other tips and tricks for these applications, especially during the seasonal hiring process.

Featured speakers on the panel presentation will be Kier Wachterhauser from Murphy, Hesse, Toomey and Lehane; Kellie O’Shea from Creative Services Inc.; and Barry DeBlasio, president-elect of the Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association.

Registration and networking will begin at 8:30 a.m. The program will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. with lunch.

The meeting fee for $40 members and $55 for nonmembers. All requests for cancellation must be received via email by Wednesday, February 27 for a refund.

MMPA is recognized by SHRM to offer SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP professional development credits (PDCs). This program is valid for 3 PDCs. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit shrmcertification.org.
