Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Gov. Charlie Baker will be the special guest speaker at the MMA’s Annual Business Meeting on Jan. 25 in Boston, where he will address MMA members several days after filing his state budget proposal for fiscal 2021.
Also at the meeting, members will consider a resolution on the state-local fiscal partnership and one on state and local transportation challenges.
The proposed resolutions and policy update (see full text below) were drafted by MMA policy committees during the fall and approved by the MMA Board of Directors on Nov. 12.
The proposed resolutions are as follows:
• Resolution Supporting an Enduring Fiscal Partnership Between Cities and Towns and State Government in Fiscal 2021 and Beyond, proposed by the MMA Fiscal Policy Committee
The policy committees that drafted the resolutions and policy update are welcoming member comments through Dec. 27 so that committee members will be able to review any input before the Annual Business Meeting. Municipal officials may submit any comments to the MMA’s Legislative Division at 1 Winthrop Square, Boston, MA 02110 or achampion@mma.org.
An MMA Annual Business Meeting agenda booklet, which includes background materials on the proposals, will be mailed next month to all Annual Meeting registrants as well as the chief municipal official in each city and town.
The MMA’s Annual Business Meeting is a key component of the MMA Annual Meeting & Trade Show, which is held each January in Boston.
