The MMA and Suffolk University will offer two Certificate Programs in Local Government Leadership and Management during the 2018-2019 academic year, in Foxborough and Northampton.

The graduate-level academic program, designed for municipal employees interested in furthering their career in local government and pursuing a graduate degree, provides a well-rounded understanding of public-sector management.

The classes, taught by Suffolk faculty, include administrative strategies in local government, budgeting and financial management, and human resources management. Classes are held on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning in September and running through May.

These are the 11th and 12th programs being held since the certificate program was launched in 2011. The Northampton program is the first to be held in western Massachusetts.

Programs are currently running in Andover and Barnstable, and by June of this year, approximately 250 local officials will have graduated from the program, which is a partnership between the MMA and Suffolk University’s Moakley Center for Public Management.
